Hey, hey!
Not long now, troops; just a reminder of some key deadlines:
Your original FINAL deadline for your coursework product (magazine or film opening) was Friday 9th December, however, because I'm in London on training (your class will be covered & a register will be taken so you still must attend, you need the time) that means I'm not around to collect it in, so...
Monday 12th December
FINAL DEADLINE FOR MAGAZINE OR FILM
Thursday 15th December
DEADLINE FOR EVALUATIONS
THE RESEARCH AND PLANNING PART OF YOUR BLOG SHOULD ALSO BE COMPLETED SO IF YOU STILL HAVE THINGS TO SCAN IN OR UPLOAD PLEASE DO SO ASAP.
If you need to make any significant changes to your evaluations I will email you (hopefully by Sunday 18th) and you can make the amendments at home and post to your blog by Wednesday 21st. Or, if you would like to come in and make amendments, James and I will be in H311 marking coursework so I can let you into H308 to use the computers.
Eeeh it's getting exciting, nearly 50% of your AS banked!
Well done everyone, I'm very proud of the hard work you've put in so far :D

Not long until deadline!
Exciting! Don't forget, the ILC have the software you need and I have H308 booked out on Wednesdays and Thursdays 1.15-2.15 and Friday's 3.30-4.30pm when you can come and work in the room or see me for a one to one.
Just think...just under 3 weeks hard graft and then Santa's coming! :D And a unit banked before we start the next :) Don't panic, don't stress - it'll all be completed soon and I'll help anyway I can.

Double Page Spread (DPS) labels
Other important elements to consider in a DPS:
a strap-line under the article header might explain the teaser, or add further information designed to draw the reader in
the image (and other smaller images) may be have captions which anchor their meaning for the reader
the article title must be intriguing and have visual impact: enigma codes/ puns/ shock tactics/ font size and style/ colour usage
overall composition: how and why does this work? Trace the narrative flow of the images and text elements of the DPS as a whole: where are the readers’ eyes being led?
limited colour palette: often colours within the DPS will be chosen to be in harmony with the colour of the image, say. Eg, article title often has the dominant colour of the image applied to it

Comments from users
Hey everyone
A lot of the work from this class is looking very impressive so far; I'm really pleased - well done :D
1 day to deadline. Keep it up! And don't forget I have the pleasure of your company during half term :)
Can you all please check your Blogger settings and make sure that users can comment on your posts please? When I am checking through your work the comment facility is working for some students and not others. If you do not have any comments from me it is likely that your settings need to be adjusted.
Well done on the work you've done this term!

Brief magazine analysis
Take a look at the following covers, pick one or two, and consider the following questions:
•Who are the audience? How do we know this? Tell me more detail about the audience.
•What is the text selling?
•What sort of attitude/tone does it have?
•Consider the ideology of the texts – what is valued/believed in?
